Apple has some big plans in changing the way we view TV. The future of TV is all about apps, just like our smart phones and tablets we use in our everyday lives. Cable has been around for a long period of time and we catch most of our favorite shows at a certain time of day. Not only is Apple looking to change the way we view TV, but also rumored to be changing how, or should we say from whom, we stream TV viewing.
Like Netflix or Hulu, Apple would like to offer a monthly paid membership to stream exclusive content directly from them. In fact, Apple has reached out to Time Warner CEO Jeffrey Bewkes in hopes to strike a deal to buy them out. This purchase would include big names such as HBO, CNN, TNT, TBS, NBA TV, and even the Cartoons Network.
Yes, Apple would get a huge jump start into offering a streaming service if they were to acquire Time Warner, but they wouldn't be the only ones trying to make good on a proposition. iTunes Chief, Eddie Cue, is currently working with the Hollywood executives to give customers the option to buy whatever they want, whenever they want, however they want. And he's using the App store as a reference for how that's done. We'll just have to stay tuned and see what streams out.
Check out what chief of iTunes, Eddie Cue, has to say about the future of Television.
